What's new in Animperia
Updated
Animperia is in free beta, and it changes every week. This page lists what's new, newest first. If something you need is missing, the Feedback button in the studio goes straight to the people building it.

Drawing frame by frame, new canvases and more ways to export
- Drawing layers: draw a new drawing on every keyframe (F6, or F7 for a blank one), with the onion skin showing the frames around it.
- New drawing tools: a brush whose width follows your tablet's pressure (or your mouse's speed), an eraser, a lasso, and a fill bucket that closes small gaps in your lines.
- Portrait and square canvases: pick landscape 16:9, portrait 9:16 for Shorts, Reels and TikTok, or square 1:1, at 12, 24, 25 or 30 frames per second.
- More export formats:
- an MP4 with sound;
- a green-screen MP4;
- see-through video as a MOV (ProRes 4444) or a WebM (VP9);
- a GIF;
- PNG images in a ZIP;
- a single still image.
- Your files, yours to keep: download any project as one
.animperiafile and import it again, as a new project, on any account. - Nothing lost:
- deleted projects wait 30 days in Recently deleted, with Undo and Restore;
- unsaved changes are kept in your browser and offered back when you open the drawing, animation or scene again.
- Project cards show the first frame of each project's first scene.
- Animations save themselves as you work, and the animation timeline is always there under the drawing.
New guides on the site, too: start with Animperia compared with Adobe Animate.

Draw first, then make it a character
- Make as body part: draw anything on a blank canvas, then turn a group into a body part (Head, Left arm, Tail, or a name of your own) from its ⋯ menu. The part hangs from the part it lies on and turns where they meet, an arm at its shoulder or a head at its neck, so the drawing becomes a character you can pose.
- Phones: the site now says plainly that the studio is made for a computer's browser, so you can sign up on a phone and open the email on your computer.

Start from a blank canvas or an SVG file
- New object opens on Hands-on: draw it yourself on a blank canvas, or bring in an SVG file from Illustrator, Figma or Inkscape, drawn exactly as the file has it.
- Groups become parts: tick This is a character, and an SVG file's groups become parts you can pose.
Before the beta: the studio
These were built in September 2026, before the beta opened:
- A Flash-style keyframe timeline: layers, frames (F5), keyframes (F6), blank keyframes (F7) and motion tweens with easing.
- Groups and masks: groups that play like movie clips, and mask layers.
- A camera you pan, zoom and turn with keyframes.
- Characters: posed by their joints with Pivots, and the Bone tool (M) to rig the ones you draw.
- Reshaping: drag a shape's points on any frame of an animation, and the frames in between morph.
- Free transform: scale, skew, perspective, and warp with a 3 × 3 grid.
- Automatic lip sync: drop a voice line on a character and its mouth follows the words, in English or any other language.
- Character voices, and one-click noise removal for recordings.
- Sound editing: trim, split, volume, speed and fades.
- Scenes: duplicate a scene to carry on from where it ended, and Change variation swaps a character's look in every frame at once.
- Export: MP4 video at 720p or 1080p.
